Our Approach

Stefanie

I am a practitioner who approaches counselling in a collaborative way, helping you to move beyond simply surviving and be able to deal with life stressors with greater ease. Working together, we will explore your experience and difficulties to achieve a deeper understanding of who you are; how you think, feel and behave.

By working with me, you will also develop a deeper understanding of the effects that trauma, stress and anxiety can have on your body and mental and physical health. My goal is to encourage you to be curious about your internal world and to heal the parts of yourself that hold your emotional wounds. I have a special interest in working with complex trauma as well as teens and young adults.

Before counselling, I worked as an executive level officer in the public sector working in various people focused roles including Human Resources and Training. I have also worked in Human Resources in the private sector. These experiences gave me a solid understanding of how people think, feel and react to situations.

I have been working with people for over a decade in the space of naturopathy (nutritional, herbal, and lifestyle interventions). Mental health care has ended up being the main focus of my practice (stress, overwhelm, anxiety, depression, and trauma, in particular). This led me to train as a Counsellor.

I have a particular interest in holistic healthcare and wellbeing, and how our biology and psychology/emotional wellbeing intersect. I have a Graduate Diploma in Counselling and I am currently completing my final hours of practical placement for a Master of Counselling. As such, I can offer sessions at a reduced rate for the duration of the placement period.

My practice is informed by my counselling studies and my naturopathic background; bringing insight and understanding from both modalities into each session. I apply a holistic lens to my work, along with a person-centred, trauma-informed, and process-oriented approach. I endeavour to bring warmth and nurturing qualities to each session to complement my professional skill set. My goal is to create a safe and supportive therapeutic environment where clients feel heard, understood, and empowered on their wellbeing journeys.
